When training our dogs, play is something we put a lot of time and energy into.  Whichever dog sport you plan on training, play is your most valuable tool.

Because:

• Most dogs like to play with other dogs. And if you can get your dog to think that it is as much fun to play with you as with other dogs, it makes it easier when you meet other dogs on walks as well as when you are training in the presence of other dogs.
• Play brings up more intensity which in turn generates higher focus when training segments or   exercises.
• You build up a good relationship and interaction with your dog.
• Play rewards will make it easier to train endurance.
• Play will help you teach many different basic things (see our course on ground training).
• If your dog is not very confident, it is easier for him to ignore other outside things when you are playing with him.
• Last but not least, playing with your dog is simply a lot of fun!
